[ALOCHONA] Our literature, our thinking pattern

Before the AL's meeting on 4th. Oct. in a talk show on one of our channels the soft spoken well known journalist Mr. Manzurul Ahsan Bulbul commented on Mr. Jalil and his remarks, reflects what the supreme body of the AL decided and explained about Mr. Jalil few days after.

When the Tipaimukh dam issue in its peak flavor our popular 'kobi' and novelist Mr. Anisul Haque wrote an article in his newspaper PA, exactly reflected the remarks made by the parliamentary standing committee who went to visit the site after few days.

These two pick from two different yet distinct elements of our nationahood who deeply dominate our societal values and interactions and commands a great deal of influence on our society often appear as merely creatures that lives with parasitic nerve and digestive system.

We do not raise concern or question why Rabindranath Thakur did not join Subhash Chandra Bose to fight against powerful East India Company or its share holder British Raj to free his people? We can't do that – that was not his main focus.

I have a profound believe that much of our social ill and common psyche is driven by the contemporary literature, be it a short story or novel or articles and column published in our media. Besides the derogatory, irrational, impolite, unethical and aggressive utterances of our political elements this segment of our society (the poet, novelist) successfully induced deep inside our mind that's what we reflect on everything we do. Whether we are in NY, London, Sydney, Tokyo, Riyadh, Kuwait or in Dhaka on any issue we react in the same way. Remember in London Mr. Jalil was physically assaulted by the boys who disliked his remarks. We can not expect any intelligent reaction than this even in London.

We get swayed only by the historical background that we fondly nourish in our heart (not from brain) either from school age or from our family culture.

Water issue, electricity issue, corruption issue, environment issue, civility, humility nothing is measured on our scale of knowledge or intelligence but our frame of mind. Everyday our poets, novelists, columnist, editors, activists are abiding by this fact. How appalling!

Unless and until we learn, albeit with a different scale Sukanto, Nazrul, Jibanananda, Sharat, Rabindranath, Ahmed Safa, Humayon Ahmed et all, we can not reflect a genuine humility in our interactions. How we will learn to upheld our human quality, how we put our nation and its people at the centre of our social desperation without having a right focus! Well it is not suggested that two economists say like Amartya Sen and Jeffrey Sachs will not toe the same line but as far as patriotism is concern all opinions should evolve around well being of our people in true spirit and actions.

Eishob lekhok der mathai haturi mere critical thinking ta ber korar jonno jatir proiojon ekjon ashol deshbondhur.
