About the Convention: As the government plans to unleash "Operation Greenhunt", the biggest ever offensive against the Maoists in India's heartland, this convention aims to debate the why's and whether's behind the move and raise fundamental questions about treating socio-economic and political issues by military means. The convention would include presentations, panel talks, petitions, documentary screenings and exhibition of photos by freelance photojournalist Javed Iqbal. One of the documentaries is footage by some students of the Indian Institute of Science, of their visit to Vanvasi Chetna Ashram, Dantewada and the devastation witnessed during the demolition of the ashram.
