I agree with both members here. That is the reason I always stress on "processes" (Police, courts etc) and democratic institutions. At this point and time, it will not make sense to pin your hope on any party. We have to support based on performance and effective delivery on promises.

Right now there are not a whole lot of difference between major parties. All have student wings capable of commit a lot of violence. We are not under the British raj anymore. Need to come out of this dysfunctional and self-destructive cycle.

No matter what faith we practice (Or not practice), we are one people, one nation working for one cause (To advance our country).

This type of savage attack on a very innocent and productive citizen of Bangladesh needs to be addressed. I hope all human right organizations will form some backbone and speak with unity on such issues.

Though the minorities comprise only ten per cent of the voters, they are the deciding factor in about fifty constituencies in any National Assembly election. It would be interesting to see the effects of such politics as the murder of poor Viswajit on next election.  As for the "tentacles suffocating the BAL or BNP, they would ruin the country till the people overthrow them.

I had similar suspicion. Previously, Awami-League perpetrated many atrocities on religious minorities just to score political points against BNP/Jamat. Chittagong incidents were examples of such acts. It appeared to me that these monsters knew this boy as a Hindu, and they targeted him thinking that - that way - they will be able to put the blame squarely on Jamat. They did not have the brains to comprehend that now most cell phones have cameras too. Thanks God, someone took the risk of his/her life to grab those pictures. But, will these pictures bring any justice? I have doubt, since these thugs are the tentacles of Awami-League. Only time will tell. If they don't – my prediction is - these tentacles will suffocate Awami-League pretty soon. Except media, no non-communal platforms stood up for this poor young man. I don't mean to talk about any specific party here but this is a common picture in BD politics. It revolves with "Dead bodies". In fact anther report has shown one of the murderer actually demanded punishment for this murder (Blaming Jamaat/Shibir for it). I am totally stunned by these pictures. I want to know - why Bishwajit was the prime target of these so called Chhatra-Leguers. He was picked out of hundreds of by-standers. Why? It's a new and unfamiliar mode of attack from the Chhatra-League cadres.  Who are these Chhatra-Leaguers? Where is country heading? I hope some of these questions will be investigated by Awami-government. They should do it for their own sake. Culprits involved in this incident are clearly visible in the picture; Government should have no trouble finding them. সমর্থিত আইনজীবীরা একটি মিছিল নিয়ে ভিক্টোরিয়া পার্কের কাছে যান। এ সময় জগন্নাথ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ও কবি কাজী নজরুল সরকারি কলেজ শাখা ছাত্রলীগের নেতা-কর্মীরা আইনজীবীদের ধাওয়া করেন। এর কয়েক মিনিট পর ভিক্টোরিয়া পার্কসংলগ্ন একটি তেলের পাম্পের কাছে তিনটি ককটেলের বিস্ফোরণ ঘটে। তখন ছাত্রলীগের নেতা-কর্মীরা পাম্পের দিকে ধাওয়া দিয়ে আসতে থাকলে আতঙ্কিত পথচারী বিশ্বজিৎ দৌড়ে সেখানকার একটি ডেন্টাল ক্লিনিকের দুই তলায় আশ্রয় নেন। ঘটনা শুরু এখান থেকেই। তখন সময় সকাল নয়টা এক মিনিট। প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা জানান, ভিড়ের মধ্য থেকে হঠাৎ শোনা গেল 'ওপরে' 'ওপরে'। এরপরই ছাত্রলীগের নেতা-কর্মীরা সেখানে গিয়ে বিশ্বজিৎকে জাপটে ধরে এলোপাতাড়ি রড দিয়ে আঘাত করতে থাকেন। একপর্যায়ে তাঁকে ধারালো চাপাতি দিয়ে ডান হাতের গোড়ায় গুরুতর জখম করা হয়। আহত ও পাকড়াও অবস্থা থেকে ছুটে দৌড় দেন বিশ্বজিৎ। তাতেও রক্ষা পাননি তিনি। নিচে নামতেই আবার চারদিক থেকে রড-লাঠির বাড়ি পড়তে থাকে। এ সময় পথচারীদের কেউ কেউ বিশ্বজিৎকে পাশের ন্যাশনাল হাসপাতালে নেওয়ার চেষ্টা করলে তাতেও বাধা দেন ছাত্রলীগের কর্মীরা। এরপর প্রাণ বাঁচাতে আবার দৌড় দেন তিনি। দৌড়ে শাঁখারীবাজারের একটি গলিতে গিয়েই ঢলে পড়ে যান। সেখান থেকে স্থানীয় লোকজনের সহায়তায় এক রিকশাচালক রিকশায় করে বিশ্বজিৎকে পুরান ঢাকার স্যার সলিমুল্লাহ মেডিকেল কলেজ ও মিটফোর্ড হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যান। সেখানে কিছুক্ষণ পর মারা যান বিশ্বজিৎ। পরে লাশ ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য ওই হাসপাতালের মর্গে পাঠানো হয়। চিকিৎসকদের কাগজপত্র অনুযায়ী, বিশ্বজিতের মৃত্যুর সময় সকাল নয়টা ৫৫ মিনিট। প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী ও বিশ্বজিতের পরিবারের অভিযোগ, হাসপাতালের চিকিৎসকেরা সময়মতো রক্তক্ষরণ কমিয়ে প্রয়োজনীয় চিকিৎসা দেননি। পুলিশ নিয়ে না আসায় চিকিৎসা শুরু করতে বিলম্ব হয়েছে। স্যার সলিমুল্লাহ মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালের জরুরি বিভাগের সহকারী রেজিস্ট্রার আবু তানভীর সিদ্দিক বলেন, আঘাত ও প্রচুর রক্তক্ষরণের কারণে বিশ্বজিতের মৃত্যু হয়েছে। হামলাকারী ছাত্রলীগের কর্মীদের ছবি তোলা আছে। টেলিভিশন চ্যানেলগুলো তা দেখিয়েছেও। প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরাও অনেককে চিনতে পেরেছেন। তাঁরা সবাই জগন্নাথ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ছাত্রলীগের নেতা-কর্মী। তাঁদের মধ্যে রয়েছেন ছাত্রলীগের কর্মী মো. শাকিল, তাহসীন কাদের, শাওন, নূরে আলম লিমন, মাসুদ আলম নাহিদ ও ইমদাদুল। জানতে চাইলে জগন্নাথ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় শাখা ছাত্রলীগের সাধারণ সম্পাদক সিরাজুল ইসলাম ছাত্রলীগের কর্মীদের সম্পৃক্ততার অভিযোগ অস্বীকার করে প্রথম আলোকে বলেন, হামলার ঘটনায় ছাত্রলীগের কেউ জড়িত নন। রাজধানীর সূত্রাপুর থানার ভারপ্রপ্ত কর্মকর্তা নজরুল ইসলাম বলেন, লাশ ময়নাতদন্ত শেষে তাঁর পরিবারের কাছে হস্তান্তর করা হয়েছে। এ বিষয়ে লিখিত অভিযোগ পাওয়ার পর তদন্ত করে ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে। পারিবারিক সূত্র জানায়, দুই ভাই এক বোনের মধ্যে বিশ্বজিৎ ছোট। বড় ভাই উত্তম কুমার দাসের পরিবারের সঙ্গেই পুরান ঢাকার ঋষিকেশ দাস লেনের এক বাসায় থাকতেন বিশ্বজিৎ। পুরান ঢাকার ১২৩ নম্বর শাঁখারীবাজারে নিউ আমন্ত্রণ টেইলার্স নামে তাঁর একটি কাপড় সেলাইয়ের দোকান আছে। তাঁর গ্রামের বাড়ি শরীয়তপুরের নড়িয়া উপজেলার মাসুরাবাজার গ্রামে। তাঁর বাবার নাম অনন্ত দাস। হাসপাতালের মর্গে বড় ভাই উত্তম প্রথম আলোকে বলেন, প্রতিদিন পায়ে হেঁটেই দোকানে যান বিশ্বজিৎ। গতকাল সকাল নয়টার দিকে দোকানের উদ্দেশে বাসা থেকে বের হন। ১০ মিনিট পর দুর্ঘটনার সংবাদ পান তিনি। তিনি বলেন, খোঁজ নিয়ে জানতে পেরেছেন ছাত্রদলের কর্মী ভেবে ছাত্রলীগের নেতা-কর্মীরা তাঁর ভাইকে কুপিয়ে হত্যা করেছেন। অথচ শুধু বিশ্বজিৎ নন, তাঁর পরিবারের কেউউ কোনো রাজনীতির সঙ্গে সম্পৃক্ত নন। যদিও বিশ্বজিতের মরদেহ নিয়ে রাজনীতিও খানিকটা হয়েছে। গতকাল অবরোধ শেষে বিকেলে পল্টনের কেন্দ্রীয় কার্যালয়ে এক প্রেস ব্রিফিংয়ে বিএনপির ভারপ্রাপ্ত মহাসচিব মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম আলমগীর দাবি করেন, বিশ্বজিৎ একজন বিএনপির কর্মী।
