India is the only Country in the history that didn't stay with a base in a liberated country like others . Look at US , they still have their presence in Germany , Korea , Iraq , Afghanistan , Thailand ,Phillipine . We should thank India to leave our land just after liberation . Also we are grateful to India for support to build the war damaged Bangladesh .

While Bangladeshis fought against Pakistan for independence, India helped the Bangladeshi freedom fighters for its own interest- to weaken the enemy Pakistan. Additionally, there shouldn't be any honor or excuse for Indian looting of Bangladeshi movable properties.

The Indian army immediately after the independence of Bangladesh started plunder of much needed resources (industrial parts, vehicles, armours, gold etc.) from Bangladesh. This is a normal thing by any greedy army to loot movable properties of a country to take home after the end of a war. However, looting is not an acceptable norm in a civilized warfare, which actually shatters the moral high ground,
It is reported that there were standoffs in the Western sector between Bengali freedom fighters with the Indian army. One significant one was with a Bengali freedom fighter popularly known as Major Jalil in the Josore front when he opposed the Indian army carry machinary parts over to India. However, it is not clear if this was an Indian government policy. For details see "Mujibur Rahman" in Mofizul Islam (ed.) In December 1971, I personally witnessed empty farriers travelling from Demagri of Mizooram in India to Rangamati of Bangladesh, each time returning to Demagri loaded with army truck, jeep, cars and other movable properties. The commander of the ferry was an Indian Sikh officer. Surely, if Mujib didn't surrender, the war could have been fought with better show of respect by Indian soldiers to the integrity of Bangladesh. এটা সবাই জানে বাংলাদেশে ভারতীয় মিত্রবাহিনী প্রবেশ করেছিলো ৩রা ডিসেম্বর, অথচ তখন যুদ্ধ প্রায় সবটাই শেষ এবং অধিকাংশ এলাকা স্বাধীন হয়ে গেছে।
এখন প্রশ্ন জাগে, ৩রা ডিসেম্বর ভারতীয় বাহিনী কি বাংলাদেশকে সহযোগীতা করতে ঢুকেছিলো, নাকি অরক্ষিত দেশে লুটপাট করতে ঢুকেছিলো ??অঞ্জন রায় দাবি করেছে, যুদ্ধে নাকি ১৪ হাজার ভারতীয় সেনা হতাহত হয়েছে (নিহত ৪ হাজার, আহত ১০ হাজার)। কিন্তু ইতিহাস তো বলে ঐ সময় যুদ্ধই নেই, তাহলে এত লোক হতাহত হলো কিভাবে ??অঞ্জন রায়ের কথা যদি সত্য হয়, তবে ১৪ হাজার ভারতীয় বাহিনী পাকিস্তানী বাহিনীর সাথে যুদ্ধ করতে নয়, বরং বাংলাদেশে চুরি করতে গিয়ে পাবলিকের হাতে পিটুনি খেয়ে মারা পরেছিলো।তাই বলছিলুম কি, বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধে ভারতীয় বাহিনীর অবদানের কথা স্মরণ করে একটা মনুমেন্ট তৈরী করা জরুরী, তবে সেটা যুদ্ধক্ষেত্রে অবদানের জন্য নয়, চুরির অবদানের জন্য......
