[vinnomot] War Criminals

As unfortunate and irresponsible as it may sound, I too was confused all
these years by the continuous propaganda by a certain section of (if I
daresay pro Pakistani) people living in Bangladesh, about the general
amnesty declared by the government of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman almost
immediately after his return to Bangladesh in 1972. According to the
propaganda, all Razakaars specially the current big shots of the Jamaat e
Islami party were pardoned by Mujib and hence the successive governments,
following his (Mujib's) assassination, chiefly General Zia, only
completed the formality of re-establishing them in the country.

The propaganda that Jamaat e Islami is one of the key players in the
Bangladesh's politics today and that known and identified collaborators
like Nizami, Abbas, Mujahid continue to display an unbelievable level of
audacity of publicly denying their heinous roles in our liberation war, is
just a matter of changed fortunes due to the original amnesty by Mujib is
a blatant lie and a resounding reminder of how the history continues to
get distorted in this country. Thankfully though, this recent remark by
Mujahid has encouraged people from all corners to come forward and help
set a record straight for not only us but also future generations.

Following are the two pieces of writings in The Daily Star of the past 2
days which should go a some way in establishing a chain of events to set
the country's ill fate as in having to tolerate the War Criminals all
these years.

Original article published in The Daily Star dated October 28, 2007 :
