[mukto-mona] 16 Year Old Girls Get Murdered When Liberals Jump in Bed with Fanatics

16 Year Old Girls Get Murdered When Liberals Jump in Bed with Fanatics

Mehul Kamdar

Much of North America is still shocked over the brutal murder of
Canadian high schooler Aksa Parvez, strangled to death by her own
father and brothers because she refused to wear a headscarf. There
has always been a smug belief that so-called "honor" killings took
place in the world's remote corners like the badlands of Pakistan or
behind the walls of closed societies like Arab ones. The fact is that
they have been occurring with increasing frequency closer to the West
than it would like to believe and this killing of a vivacious young
girl in Canada only foretells of similar murders which will most
definitely take place in North America.

Honor killings are not the prerogative of a particular religion.
Hindu villages in India's interiors have "tried" and hanged several
young people for marrying outside their caste. There have also been
Sikh killings including the savage killing of the daughter of a
prominent woman on the Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Bibi
Jagir Kaur. But, with the migration of large numbers of people from
these more remote parts of the world to the west have come
recalcitrant priests from the same parts on religious worker visas
that the west liberally provides. These religious ideologues bring
with them messages of hate, fire and brimstone rants that do their
best to try and force a barbaric mentality on their followers while
the west ignores their teachings in a forced attempt at appearing
tolerant.

Nowhere has this been more obvious than in the UK and France, two
countries with substantial Muslim populations. The UK has been
particularly receptive to the worst kind of ideologues – several of
its young get routinely brainwashed into going to the hot spots of
Afghanistan and Iraq to fight their own country's armies there. More
have been responsible for crime within the UK itself. And France's
Maghreb minorities did drive the brutal rebellion in Algeria for many
years feeding it with funds and volunteers. The mess now seems to
have come to North America with the willing support of politicians
out to gain whatever they can for themselves, their countries be
damned. The clearest example of this took place in Canada in 2004
when, the then ruling "Liberals" in the province of Ontario threw
their lot behind a proposal by the extremist "Islamic Institute of
Civil Justice" to create a tribunal to mediate in Muslim personal law
using sharia. The Canadian government had proposed faith based courts
in 1991 due to a large backlog of personal law cases and, Jewish
personal law courts, sharia courts etc came into existence almost
immediately after the decision was announced. Due to the very concept
being novel, hardly anyone knew about the Sharia Court's existence
until, in 2003, after 13 years of its existence, the Sharia Court
asked for arbitration status. This provision had been made possible
by the 1991 law, but it carried with it a huge risk – such a status
would have prevented appeals against the Sharia Court's decision in
the Canadian legal system outside the Sharia Courts themselves. This
would mean that in marriage and divorce law, the Sharia Court's writ
would have been absolute. Faced with a national election at the time,
then Prime Minister Paul Martin and then and current Ontario Premier
Dalton McGuinty sensed an opportunity to gain votes from among
Canada's 600,000 strong Muslim community. They couldn't have been
more wrong.

Vociferous opposition to the proposal almost immediately began from
within Canada's largely liberal Muslims with the Muslim Canadian
Congress denouncing the move supported by The International Campaign
Against the Canadian Sharia Court and the Canadian Council of Muslim
Women. The MCC's Tarek Fatah and Hasan Mahmud, known to us at Mukto-
Mona as the playwright Fatemolla (the latter is a liberal Islamic
theologian) led a campaign supported by Muslim women who had fled
some of the most repressive regimes in the world to gain freedom by
migrating to Canada. Activists like Homa Arjomand and Maryam Namazie,
both of Iranian descent, who led the womens' groups, began to
communicate their concerns to non Muslim womens' groups and to
canvass Women MPs in Canada to request their help in defeating this
proposal. While this happened, Messrs Martin and Mc Guinty posed
smugly along with the sharia supporters, their grins as wide as those
of the bearded mullahs whom they shared a stage with. Typically,
their political bravado evaporated when they realized that they had
taken a massive liability on when they shared the stage with dyed in
the wool proponents of barbarism and they disappeared with their
tails between their legs, the proposal dropped for the conceivable
future. In September 2005, the Ontario government repealed the 1991
law and all faith based courts were effectively banned. Martin's fate
was sealed in the elections – he was duly consigned, for his many
faults, to the trashcan of Canadian politics, while Mc Guinty managed
to scrape through in the elections as he was forgiven this stand that
he had taken, by his electorate.

The tragic results of these men and their party's dalliance with a
bunch of fanatics came to shock the world a little into the new
Conservative government's rule, when Aksa Parvez found herself
murdered by her father and brothers. From what is known, the father
worked as a taxi driver, not quite a profession that would pay enough
to keep him and a family of six in good economic shape. His choice of
profession implies that his education must have been basic, probably
only rudimentary. This is a class that is most susceptible to the
teachings of religious preachers – the promises of a blissful
afterlife to compensate for the travails of the present one would
have been the first bait dangled before him. This would have been
followed with a steady indoctrination into the most extreme practices
of the religion, if the imam happened to be one of those who posed
along with Martin and Mc Guinty. With the extreme teachings would
have been an admonition that not following the "essence" of the faith
as preached by the imam would doom the man to Islamic purgatory.

This is not to absolve the father and his sons of the murder of the
poor girl. It is, though, an attempt at explaining the process that
inevitably leads to horrors of the kind that Aksa suffered in her
short, and unhappy life. Friends of the girl have told the media that
she had several arguments at home over her refusal to wear a head-
scarf. Eventually, she planned to leave home as she could not take
the family's pressures (influenced no doubt by the Martin-Mc Guinty
comrades' strictures) and live by herself. Sadly, this did not
happen. Her father and brothers caught wind of her plans, strangled
her to death and then surrendered to the Canadian police.

An old piece of wisdom suggests that people could be identified by
the company that they keep. Clearly, then, the company that Canada's
Liberal heavyweights seem to enjoy is a nasty one. In the interests
of their own survival, in a cynical ploy to get into bed with
proponents of murder in order to win elections, they managed, quite
successfully one might add, to unleash forces that Canada is going to
have to fight hard to control. Going by the British experience which
has seen girls continue to be killed even when their killers are
sentenced to life without parole and the French experience with riots
every now and then and murders on French trains by criminals who find
themselves freed from time to time by "liberal" judges, Aksa is only
the first martyr to the marriage of fundamentalist recalcitrance
and "liberal" deviousness in Canada. Even if her father and brothers
are awarded the maximum sentence possible under Canadian law (and
there is every possibility that this will not happen considering how
lax Canadian courts have been in sentencing killers in the past) more
girls will die. And their blood would not only be on the hands of
those who kill them, Messrs Martin and Mc Guinty would be equally
responsible. The Nuremberg trials sentenced not just those who
actually killed innocent people they also sentenced those who gave
the orders or encouraged these killings. Would that that wisdom could
be applied against the preachers and politicians whose actions led to
a 16 year old girl's horrible death!
