Verdict on MA Aziz

The High Court on Wednesday declared the appointment of justice MA Aziz as chief election commissioner to be illegal. In the verdict, the court recommended an amendment to the constitution and making laws banning appointment of Supreme Court judges to any such post within three years of retirement. According to the constitution, the appointment of a serving Supreme Court judge to any other important post like the EC is illegal, the HC said.
   The nation will be waiting to see the action taken by the Supreme Court to safeguard the constitution.
