[ALOCHONA] Re: [Dahuk]: Tolerence and civility at Dhaka University

It is sad to see that some people hope for tolerance and responsibility from the DU teachers who put their party's agenda over everything else. CTG has shown their  complete irresponsibility by releasing these teachers and students. They should have arrested each and everyone whenever someone demanded 'unconditional release'.

It is so sad to see the newly released DU teacher Prof. Anwar is yet again irresponsibly preaching the message of intolerance among DU students by his call for "listing of Shibir students". Being a teacher he should know that all political and ideological groups have the same democratic right to freely organize and advocate their cause as long as it is not illegal or harmful to the society.

These 'Shibir Students' had nothing to do with war of 1971. By trying to make Shibir students 'target' among all DU student he is 1) Jeopardizing their safety 2) Denying their constitutional rights 3) Inducing and inciting an atmosphere of hatred, violence and intolerance on Campus.

Will Prof. Anwar take the responsibility if a shibir student is subjected to violence by other student who takes his call of "listing' a little too far? Are not the teachers supposed to be the guardians of all students? It is one thing to debate the policies or ideologies in a civil and democratic way but totally another thing to demonize the differing view holders by personally targeting them. We need to change these type of mindset and leadership for the good of our country.
