January 31, 2008, Magh18, 1414     †   Do you know if any one kept a poet under house arrest? Ever?   Taslima Nasreen ---------------------------------------------------------------------------   Did any one, ever,  keep a poet under house arrest ? May be there have been much politicking about a poet, Much stone-throwing about a poet, Perhaps, some fire, No country has kept a a poet jailed in a house. This Bharatbarsha,  This civilization, Twenty-first century, Welcomed this poet, Abandoned also in a moment captive to an infantile Dharma, To Its cruel politics. Poet has done no wrong, Poet is jailed in a house.   Poet has seen no sky, Poet knows not how sky looks, Has seen no human, Knows not what is a human being, Stars have left a dark world facing the poet, They said they won't come back this way.   One hundred and fifty five days, Poet held inside this room, All these days, Poet knows not , Is there any body who has a heart, In this world, On hundred and fifty five days, Poet knows not, Is there any life left.    Who can be asked to give back those days, Poet sits in front of this darkness and thinks,     Who can return those sun rays stolen from life, Some day, in the quiet, who will bring back the soul and the life beat.    Let people speak, Console the poet at least,  Mainly poets were held in house arrests before, Let poet find some company silent imagination.        .           This page has been printed from the web site of The Daily Amader Shomoy (www.amadershomoy.com).
