[mukto-mona] Re: Barack Obama may turned out to be the dream candidate

WRT: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mukto-mona/message/46448

Dr Jaffor Ullah,

Barack Obama has had a major advantage in having a gushing media
backing his candidacy, with some of the most glaring scandals that
beset his early career in Chicago not too long ago being swept under
the carpet in a rush to make him President. Mr Obama was a lawyer to
a mobster Tony Rezko who had connections to the Democratic Party in
Illinois and who is now being held without bail as his trial is
scheduled to shortly begin. Right from the beginning, since the
Chicago Sun Times detailed how the Rod Blagojevich administration and
the City of Chicago under Mayor Richard Daley gave Rezko, a hot dog
seller, $ 100 million to rehab homes on the city's South Side,
following which the money simply disappeared, Mr Obama (whose
candidacy is openly supported by Messrs Blagojevich and Daley) has
been more than a little economical with the facts about their
association.

After claiming that he had "returned" $ 40,000 in campaign funds
received from Mr Rezko, Mr Obama then said that he ahd given this
money "to charity." Wouldn't a law abiding individual give money
received from a gangster tothe law enforcement authorities instead? I
do understand that charities need money all the time, but since when
was it just to give them stolen funds? And, there have been reports
(which Mr Obama has not denied) that speak of at least an additional
$ 168,000 from the Rezko mob in addition to the fact that Messrs
Obama and Rezko are neighbors with both of them having bought
properties next door to each other, notably with Mr Obama buying his
home at $ 320,000 below the then market price of $ 1.2 million
somehow mysteriously. Yes, he is a religious man and could claim that
he received manna from heaven that enabled that payment. I think the
rest of us need to look at this much more closely.

George Santayana suggested, a long time ago, that a nation that ahd
no heroes deserved to be pitied. But, he reserved even more pity for
nations that needed heroes. How much sadder, then, must the situation
of the USA be when it looks at a known swindler and an associate of
the Chicago real estate mafia as a hero and expects him to
somehow "save" the country!
