Re: [mukto-mona] Re:Explanation for each poem

WRT: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mukto-mona/message/47075

Hi Kamrun Nahar,

Let me speak as a person who writes and publishes poetry. The
meaning of all poetry, like all writings, will ever be in the
interpretation of the reader. Once a poem is out there, one has no
control over it. You feel, you write, and the reader reads and
interprets. They will see something in your writing that they want to
see. It is akin to interpreting the religious texts. People
understand what speaks to them personally. Sometimes personal
understanding bears no resemblance to the actual words.

Well known poets only become well known because publishers see
something they like and take steps to publish. There are many great
poets who never get this kind of attention. In fact some historical
poets now considered the best were never even noticed while they were
alive.

If you want my advice (and I realize you may not :-) write what you
feel from the heart and if you want to give an explanation do so.
However, remember whatever explanation you give others will see what
they want to see. Also, there is no right or wrong way to make a good
poem. In my humble opinion, polishing too much to fit a norm can take
away from the original thoughts.

The poem Conscience spoke to me clearly and to my vision of a
compassionate future for mankind. That may, or may not, have been
your intent. I look forward to seeing more of your poems in English.

Audrey
