[ALOCHONA] What should be prioritised for nation building

I am an ordinary salaried worker, making my living on my pay cheque. Having a fair opportunity to work in a fair and competitive atmosphere and raising my children with humility, help leave a congenial atmosphere for them is my only motto in life. This 'congenial atmosphere' is diluted with unscrupulous preaching of untruthful people.

My most admired 'kobi', whom I used to write for every liked piece of his writing. Who often enquired, starting with 'love' and ending with 'love', as he perceived how is 'my mideast slavery' going. Yet, I admired his literary capacity and appreciated his prolific writings. During a short pause, I enquired few times about his current well being and requested him to continue writing where ever he might be. Yet his absence was worrisome, for his personal well being as well as for the knowledge he has been inducing.  But his 'love' was such, he never bothered to reply except after few months during Ekushe book fair he sent me his book name.

Wouldn't say practicing, but with fundamental believe in Islam and focusing on my daily affairs based on that philosophy, yet, I greatly admire Tariq Ali. This atheist Paki attracts me hugely for his writings.
Bernard Lewis's books on Islamic Civilisation and its conflicts that he narrated emphatically did not antagonize me rather read the book with haste.
Stephen Hawking, the living scientist's remarks on God and its creation, yet I find it reasonable from his argument on the black hole and harmonious movements of the galaxies.
Jeffrey Sachs narrative how to 'end of poverty in our life time' did not touch on ethnicity or faith, rather demographical behavior of the society and how to prioritize the economic policies to eradicate hunger and poverty all over the globe.

But I am too worried about my existence when I see in my own land those growing population  of human haters who chastise people for their belief. What they understand about religion, no way I can know it, but the way they appear, repugnant as they propose, only devil hearted will be proselytized.

37 year on, Mr. Zakeria Shirazi (New Age, 26.03.2008) seems graduated himself to see only religious extremism. When 50% or a greater majority of his folks still can not write, read, 45% living under the harsh poverty line, on 26th March, 2008 it should be more. Universities, health systems, libraries, laboratories, civil service, social and cultural institutions all have been and still continue to devour under the verity of 'blood, fame and money' hungry cronies.
Primary education, basic food supply and purchasing power all have been systematically undermined, and in his lifetime, he fails to grasp. When hunger and deprivation broke loose, back breaking poverty and injustice, just before this 26th of March have exacerbated further with literally 100 million of his own countrymen, he can not see them. How can he see them his heart is full of 'love' like that poet.

An octogenarian barrister confessed in a village mela last week (April), 'I never knew so closely', as he admired them. Imagine living in a filthy, underdeveloped Dhaka city infested with corrupts and goons, being so loud in the High Court, 70 years or more he took no chance to understand how our poor folks behave. So is our literary people, often shouts in favour of our people whom they do not know or understand.

If religion of the majority is given the status of state religion it will not only be discriminatory against religious minority but within the majority religious community also it will encourage the forces of orthodoxy, priest-craft and extremism and inter-sect hostility based on misinterpretation of the scriptures.
Allah only knows where did he has learnt this. What he knows about any religion, save Islam, I can not fathom.

Gems studded, golden embroidered, ostentatious priest wearing a gold crown opening the so called highest democratic parliament in the world, how does the other minorities or believers feel seeing this. World's holiest human right preacher ascribed in the constitution no Muslim but only Christian, can be their president, what kind of inter-sect harmony he finds in it! We all know CIA has created Bin Laden and gave birth to today's terrorism; nurtured and financed Hamas to stand against Fatah. Being elected with popular votes yet their democracy do not coin any meaning to George Washington's decibels. Can you see Al Qaeda had no place during Saddam but only after liberator's army occupied it.

Islam has no priesthood, no orthodoxy. Egalitarian Islam is touted by Muslims and its haters equally. True, we do not find many good contemporary examples of Islamic rule but it is more worse if we consider today's and yesterdays mighty forces that mutilated this earth so mercilessly, many population and civilization were not only defeated but destroyed. 20 million people were only killed during last world wars. Only yesterday hundreds of year old museum, library, that was also destroyed many times to destroy Muslim civilisation earlier, looted and emptied by the today's world's peach keepers. And surprisingly enough (for me), all these were authorsied by the world's highest democracies, with biggest mandate in their parliaments, that also killed million of Iraqis and Afghani and their own people. Well, you do not like to call them Christian atrocities, you will not associate yourself with all these, neither I would preach so.

But certainly you do not fathom our main crisis and main trouble. I wish, like that barrister, you luxury a trip to Nilphamari or Roumary (famous war veterans are still languishing there), it will cost you only 50 taka if you can seat like hundreds other who gamming your city for a little sustenance on the floor of the bus, see by yourself, still if you can understand sufferings of humanity and prioritizing your issue to write on Independence Day. Who, yet with all their destitution praying to Allah, after day's inhuman pain and humiliating hunger – 'please make it easy for me, help me to bear it, bring some help for our sustenance' and goes to bed, exhausted , weak than fall in sleep.
If they did not bear this philosophy, following morning they would have torn apart your society, your press club, club of your obnoxious university teachers, economists and so on, you wouldn't have called it democratic right movement. Obviously you and your colleagues fear it most. No? You would have understood their plight and write how to eradicate their impoverishment, than.

I wish you could only see the power of knowledge and prioritise your issue and concern for this most oppressed, most misruled and misguided by far by the people like you, nation of ours.
What ever you would profess to glorify the gains after our honourable freedom, I see, we have made to loose more, even from what we had. To your surprise I consider, this is part of the whole design. What prestige I take today?
37 year is a long time. Half of the population is still struggling for basic staple. You do not find it shameful sending, taking 3 years of his gross earnings, an illiterate, unknown to modern manners and etiquette to Middle East, while he baffles in his frantic effort to recoup his cost, minister and the governor boast of reserve in the national treasury. How do you see this? Your preoccupation is somewhere else.

What Mohd. Iamnullah or Obaidullah said under the duress of social injustice and oppression and shear ignorance, become a fear factor. Like the fear created by the Natsi Germany, fear that is being preached today by the world hegemonic power. We had mao badi , shorbohara only few years ago, since this ploy is not working any more 'huji' muji emerging  as fear factor. Dancing with the wolf may be entertaining for a while but the wolf will gobble soon.

UNDP, Eropean Union and its parliament, human rights organization were so concern of our democracy and human rights. Today while we are in such a crisis with basic food (what a shame and humiliating) those organization not being our any hope, not a kilogram of wheat or barley being offered to mitigate our hunger. Still you do not understand their objectives.
Please stand with our people and with their indigenous hope and aspiration. Profess that helps to alleviate their hunger, inhuman conditions and that should be the greatest of all his rights. Profess for their education, their knowledge building and cohesion and compassion in the society. Do not give them false hope and false 'love'.

Certainly we need to overcome both the criminal elements – those creating fear in the name of religion and those dividing this society with their criminal infested and foreign guided motive and power. Water is gone, land is going, gas and mineral resources wasted, would you convince me that it has happened because of today's so called Islamic terror, if not, speak the truth.

Nurul Kabir is another admired articulated editor, under his editorial I only expect preaching of general good for our people in general, do not categorize them under their faith.
