These are all legitimate demands. All illegitimate
Bengali settlers should be kicked out of the CHT.
Anyone who settled there by force and intimidation
through government and other powerful forces
(influential criminal people and groups) should be
considered illegitimate. Any illegitimately acquired
property now inherited by the newer generations of
Bengalis should be considered equally illegitimate,
and returned to the previous owners or their heirs.
I am curious as to why this fellow, Devashis Roy, is
called "Raja." One of the problems of the Jumma people
probably is that they are backward, like still
believing in kingship. I am sure, if in 1947 the
people of CHT could think themselves individually, the
CHT could not be a part of Pakistan. Any intelligent
person would have realized that the hate-mongering
founding forces of Pakistan would not respect the
non-Muslims once they got a country via really the
courtesy of the British divide and rule policy.
Obviously, the poor level of education among the
people in 1947, and a decision by a 'raja' then, are
no justifications for the raw deal that the CHT people
have been getting over the last six decades. The
hatred and injustice against the Jumma people should
be stopped now, all crimes against them should be
punished without delay.
