Mr. Shah Abdul Hannan, let me quote you from your posting on the matter "There is no case against him anywhere in Bangladesh for any type of crime, war crime or otherwise." Yes you are right, but that's a designed technique to rebuff the allegation to mislead common people.
Mr. Hannan, there is no case against most Rajakar as war criminal but that does not prove there were no Rajakars and millions of people didn't died whether in their hand or their master heinous Pakistan military junta. Anyone aware of history knows that the country faced a counter revolution and a political setback in 1975 which put the liberation forces in the back foot and thus allowing the anti liberation to regroup, therefore not many cases where logged against most of the notorious Pakistan army collaborators. Even if there were a case against him you and people like you would be saying the case against Mr. Azad is maliciously designed similar to grand Islamic scholar Mufti Golam Azam. I have no doubt in my mind that he and others like him will face the truth today or tomorrow.
You also said "The propaganda against him is malacious as is done against most other Islamists. I am saying all these on the basis my personal knowledge as I know him for twenty five years."
Information against him is not propaganda but your attempt to save him is party line propaganda. Action against him is not malicious but the action that he allegedly committed against his own countryman in 1971 were not just malicious but spiteful.
Mr. Hannan, you said you know him for twenty five years, please tell us how much you know about Mr. Azad's past life on the last days of Pakistan. What was Mr. Abul Kalam Azad's political aspiration and affiliation during the war of liberation? Was he a member of any organized force against Bangladesh liberation? Please tell us if he has any political affiliation in last 25 years the time you claim to know him?
I do not disagree with you that he has become a media personality since he started "Apnar Jigasha" very popular Islamic show which I myself also watched many times. It is not questioned whether his Islamic knowledge is excellent or not, it's dam serious, it's about participating or aiding manslaughter, arson and indiscriminate looting. If he is guilty of taking stand against humanity then his Islamic scholarly stand will have no value in the eyes of Allah and people of Bangladesh. In the Day of Judgment everyone will be judged with their accumulated deeds of their entire life not based on what was your last profession.
Mr. Hannan, I have no evidence of him guilty or not but I strongly believe a man of his stature should answer the allegation, NOT JUST BRUSH IT ASIDE AS MALICIOUS PROPAGANDA as you did. If he does not come forward and answer for his self then law will take its own course whether today or tomorrow or the years to come, until then he will be known as Bacchu Rajakar to many who claim him as the accomplice of Pakistan army, people like me who has no direct knowledge of his association will have severe doubt and will not accept him as an Islamic scholar. Agitation will continue and people who suffered in his hand will have the right to speak against him whether in foreign or domestic soil wherever they will find him.
