Re: [mukto-mona] Some of the facts that I would like Mr. Ray and Dr. Das to consider

WRT: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mukto-mona/message/49596

If it were for my comments that the debate has been pushed to 'ludicrous
extent', I would have asked for apology. I was called irresponsible in the
beginning, as I failed to find out prosperity in the pre-British Bengal.
What makes an expert historian? Believing that Gangarhiddi(Gangahridoy) was
Bengal, and the fear it's might aroused in the heart of Alexander the Great
made him turn around from the coast of Sind? Tagore was right when he wrote
"Ayee Itibrittakatha, bondho koro mukhar bhasan" Even Herodotus, the father
of history is dubbed 'the father of lies'. As far Bengal riches are
concerned, it might have reached its climax after the 'Opium War' of 1840.
The Bhadrolok Class rose afterwards as a result of the English education and
newly acquired riches by opium and indigo traders. Most of the Indian born
I.C.S. officers and Congress members were Bangalee Hindus. This prompted
the British to adopt the 'Divide and Rule' policy.

The basic question is was whether the British rule brought overall benifit
to India. The answer in my opinion is yes. So is the opinion of Bankim
Chaterjee, Vivekananda, and many others. I have no wish and reason to
debate with a person who believes that Mughal, Maratha, and Sikhs were
competing nationalities. Didn't Ranjit Singh build a nation of Sikhs on the
ruins of Ahmad Shah Abdalli's empire?

Now, about the points Dr. Bain raised. (i)The Caste System is the stench of
any rotten stagnant society. It is present all over the world in different
forms. Only a functional democracy can remove it.. (ii) Consider the
Arabian Male Identity, they have the tradition of being known by the name
of either by their son, or by their father, but rearly by their own. Woman,
in any society, is the center of taboo. To make the society bicentric, man
and woman have to be financially independent of each other. (iii) Hindu
female children should have equal inheritance as the males, and the dowry
should be abolished. Some progress has ben achieved in India, but not in
Bangladesh. (iv) An egalitarian society never works. Marxists tried to get
it and seems to have given up. The State Machinnery should have legislation
to trim the wealth of the filthy rich, and use it for development work.
(v) No one should expect democracy and human right under the rule of
religious muslims. It is forbidden in their religious text. The very fact
that mullacracy lives on, is due to the unholly alliance between them and
the leading Capitalist powers.

Alam oti bistareno. Thanks to all.
