[ALOCHONA] Rule of Law and Bangladesh

Dear Readers:

Much have we heard about Rule of Law and how lovely it would be if we had that. Well the present definition of the Rule of Law contains a very different view towards this idea. We now require Rule of Lawyers or the Rule of Common People as the law when made may not speak the common sentiment of the people and the laws might have been enancted in a corrupt democratic system where the elected parliamentarians did not enact the right law to serve the people rather relied on laws which serve the rulers only. The Judges do not have much liberty against the laws as interpretations of the laws may not be too far from the ambit of the legal terms. Hence there creates a gap between lawyers and Judges and common people tend to lose faith in the legal system. Hence, the way out is constant pressure from the lawyers by multiple public interest suits at Higher Courts and by bringing the media in line with it to enlighten the common people to press the Govenment to stick to enacting moral laws and cancelling black laws. Now I think we know why none of the previous Governments in Bangladesh nullified any of the black laws. I did predict here in this very Alochona Online that all the corrputs will come out from custodies when the cases would move to High Court and look what is happening. We will now see another dawn ushered after election when the losing political party will struggle to quash all of their corruption cases and we will see a start of political vengeance.
