Yoginder Sikand is one of the prolific writers, whose writings I generally dump in the trash folder without reading at all or after reading a bit.
I remember one of his articles where he was talking about Hindi-Paki brotherhood. To me, there is nothing intellectual or hopeful in this kind of slogans, as long as the children of Pakistan are taught in the schools to hate anything and everyting non-Muslim.
In this article that Mr. Sikand has translated from Urdu, the 'Islamic scholar' Maulana Wahiuddin Khan wanted to show that Muhammad was for peaceful resolution of conflicts. However, what he has actually shown is that Muhammad was a shrewd warrior who knew when to engage and when to retreat.
In fact, in so much of gibberish, this mullah is really telling the Muslims, "we are not powerful enough to engage in violence now, let us take the path of non-violence."
What an intellectual and mind-broadening article!
