[ALOCHONA] Foreign Manipulations in Domestic polls

Foreign Manipulations in Domestic polls

Dr. Abdul Ruff

Thieves and criminals always talk about decency and fare game in society and walk away with major benefits. Every country, more so the so-called democracies, crave for patriotism and national pride, but also use foreign sources to settle some of the domestic problems, or escalate them. Of late, it seems, countries are contacted or they themselves contact foreign sources for poll campaigns and favorable verdicts. However, such acts of commissions and omissions are not construed as anti-national, but, on the contrary, patriotic; and the leaders are not betraying the national interests but enhancing. And hence they don't pass for traitor-ship.

From credits policy to cricket runs every thing today seems to be decided before hand. The way Australia tries to disprove the prevailing notion about its "joint cricket matches" with India and other countries for suitable benefits reveals that point vividly. Now Australia wants to win somehow and hence has broken a hand of South African skipper Smith. But they might not win the Test. Politics and polls are key instruments of controlling power.
  I
In Indian polls there are always the USA-cum-UK hidden hands, in recent Maldives poll there were Western hands to bring to power a pro-Christian Mohamed and now in Bangladesh, the external hands are clearly visible in the recent Bangladesh poll as many wanted to see an anti-Pakistan and a possible pro-India regime is put in place in Dhaka.

Recently "done' Indian pollin Kashmir vindicates the hunch that India intentionally created all dramas in the illegal Amarnath scandal and promoted the extremists Hindutva forces in Jammu region that have now captured some seats there for first time since 1947 which India annexed Kashmir quite dramatically and tactfully. India is overwhelmed now with Hindu occupying the seat of deputy CM in Sri Nagar, unthinkable even before the "Amarnath scandal".

The only super power not only wields global powers every where, but also decides the courses of each and every country, small and big. It looks the UNSC and NATO jointly influences the global developments including the poll outcomes in every country, where the results do matter to the onward manipulations of the Western powers and their eastern small partners. They use the global media to spread propaganda against those whom they don't want and canvas for those who m they want to come to or be in power
In 2000 US presidential polls, the intelligencee3de election commission had a tough time declaring the results of the winner, because Al-Gore was leading against the republican Bush Junior, but the US network wanted Bush, son of Bush Sr, to assume White House. Who played what role in the final outcome of the polls in the USA remains another US mystery. Now recently, Ms. Clinton was projected as the future incumbent of the Oval House, but due to the turn of events, Obama outsmarted her.

USA is still trying to make "new" Middle Eastern regimes: according to its own scheme and many Muslim countries at the dirty feet of Americans and support those by taking small coins form Washington. Media make wonders every where and Spet11 and similar terrorism practices in the world have been successfully carried out after being meticulously planned.
  II
Another Israeli terror attack and another set of mass funerals for Palestinians demanding their lands now occupied illegally by US friend Israel. The front-runner for prime minister in the Israeli election scheduled for February is Binyamin Netanyahu, who is currently ahead in the polls. Israeli terrorism is meant to boost the image of Kadima party. Olmert seeks to promote the chances of both Livni and Barak to gain upper hand for a PM's slot. It is claimed one of the major objectives of the Israeli terror attacks has to do with Israel's coming elections. Kadima Party wants to project itself as the terrorist party dealing with Hamas sternly. This would send out signals needed for poll prospectus of the party trailing behind the Likud leader Netanyahu in the opinion polls. The assault on Gaza is also being carried out to help Kadima and Labor defeat Likud and its leader Binyamin Netanyahu. It is not coincidental that Netanyahu's two main competitors, Livni and Barak, were invited to the press conference – since, after the assault, it will be more difficult for Netanyahu to characterize them as "soft" on the Palestinians. The violence began days after a six-month truce expired between Israel and Hamas, and as Israel was preparing for a general election in February. The bombardment has raised concern about the humanitarian situation in Gaza, a tiny, aid-dependent territory of 1.5 million people that has been crippled by Israel's blockade.

The Israeli government is actively misleading the public. Of course, with US guidance Israel has, with quick attacks on several targets, demonstrated efficacy of its weapons systems and in a way invited quotations for orders. Expansionist Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will have left office in month's time with thousands of new homes for Jewish settlers under construction in occupied territories belonging to Palestine. As Olmert and Abbas are on the way out of office, both Israel and Palestine are going to have poll to elect their respective leaders soon. Likud party leader Binyamin Netanyahu, whose right-wing Likud party is currently ahead in the polls, meanwhile called for a more "active policy of attack", accusing the current government of being too "passive" and he wants quick wars in Palestine and finish off Hamas.  "In the long-term, the toppling of the Hamas regime is inevitable." Abbas might be restored as a result of the Israeli terrorism.
III
There is much ado about Bangladesh poll also. One of major arguments placed in media states that the network sought a pro-India regime to make Dhaka come back to its "senses" and back Indian aspirations. Earlier BNP pursued an independent foreign policy that exposed the Indian wrong doings for Dhaka. New Delhi was exploiting its questionable role in the creation of Bangladesh in 1971. The election on December 29, 2008 saw the landslide victory of the Awami League led Moha Jote in Bangladesh. It bagged 264 out of the 298 constituencies declared. The BNP led coalition was virtually crushed, winning 31 seats only. Not only the BNP but even many of Awami Leaders could not believe that their party has got so many seats. BNP says there was foul game in the poll. Many say the military regime ahs favored the Awami league for certain reasons. AL leader Hasina asked her opponent to accept the result.
No wonder many suspect foreign hands in this BD election game. Continuing interest of our big neighbor in our internal affairs is a known matter. Through its intelligence agency and its local strings, it has always been trying to make Bangladesh its vassal state. Lately, it seemed to have enlisted the support of the US and UK governments towards a strategy that would ensure the victory for its surrogates in Bangladesh. In this game, our neighbor played, among others, the cards of 'fundamentalism' and 'terrorism' that appealed the superpowers.

It is also not unknown to the Bangladeshis which party and which public personalities are working for our neighbor and for the foreign hands. The 2006 London Meeting involving former military leader and the ruler of Bangladesh Ershad, the 2008 Hasina-Hussain Zillur Dialogue in the US were all part of this strategy. These external forces thus acted, overtly and covertly, for their designated party in Bangladesh.

The latest international trend is every where now the ruling parties share a part of power benefits with the ppostion also so that the ruling classes stay comfortably and election strategy involves a plan for the future government as to who would rule  in view of certain existing phenomena. Accodingly the polls are 'fiercely" fought and won by parties that can manipulate the polls better, which is akin to the "tterrorists" being engaged in a fierce combat with "state commandos", before ending their terrifying "ordeal" for the next poll. Net result is every important person in the country enjoys the fruits while the voters mind their own little work of combating society evils.

Fascism, like colonialism and imperialism, has taken a democratic shape in many a country now. Extremist Indian Hindus revere Hitler and use the Swastika as the Indian flag. Hindus seek Israeli wepaons and US technology to prove their inoocnece and display "victim" syndrome. Fascism today has taken the form of anti-Islamism and anyone ( read Muslim) who seeks help from anti-Islamic forces to win a doemstic poll cannot be better than George W.Bush who on the pretext of "terrosrsm', WMD and Obama, has killed Muslims by employing terror forces in Islamic world after inavading and terror attacking them.
Foreign observers present during the polls don't see though the hidden scenes that lie behind before, during and even after the polls.
