RE: [ALOCHONA] False statement of Education Minister

I would like to add a few more in the list: (5) Talpotti Issue, (6) Hill-Tract emblazonment by Indian Mogh-Chakma terrorists, (7) Sundarbon saga, (8) Bay of Bengal Island capture, (8) Contract breach during Bangladeshi Monga, etc. India is our biggest neighbor and India surrounds Bangladesh from three sides and so we have no choice at all to do something that will make India our bigger foe. But as an independent country, we must say what is right, try our best to work out bilaterally, and at the end of the day if nothing works out, to take it to world body (I think the legitimate issues will get an edge there until we mess it up like Pakistan did for the the Kashmir issue). Most importantly we must try to make significant improvements in politics, education, agriculture, trade, commerce, and improve the means of public protections to world class. Then only India will think twice to mess up with Bangladesh.

Based on official record (maintained in AL, BNP, JP period) he is right. We defintely have lot of issues with India.

I would rather ask you how Farakka is a reason when Sylhet, Pabna, Dinajpur  or Mymensingh is flooded?

In a meeting with visiting Indian Foreign Minister, our education minister said the following:
"India helped us during our independce struggle. (A true statement). India continued to help us after independence. ( A false statement)." - The daily Ittefaq. Feb 10, 2009
What the education minister could have told the Indian foreign minister "India helped us during our independce struggle. But it continued to screw us after the independence. (A true statement)". To support his statement, he could bring the following issues ( I am surprised none of our ministers including the PM brought the following issues):
1. Farakkah (No. 1 reason for flood in Bangladesh).
2. Push in the poor Indians to Bangladesh.
3. Improper tarrifs on Bangladeshi products.
4. BSF killings.
