[ALOCHONA] Re: 25th February 2009

Dear Alochoks

Yesterday I visited the graves of those who fell on 25th February 2009. It was a very sobering moment. I will never forget them.

I will never forgive those who committed this assault on our sovereignty and I will never forgive those who deliberately, or accidentally, aided the success of this assault.

From Dhaka I can tell you little but I can tell this:

Youtube has been blocked to prevent access to the Shenakunja recordings. The recordings are everywhere in Dhaka...

There are stories of strange characters who visited Dhaka in the last few months. They rented apartments and behaved very oddly.

There are also stories that soon after the 25th of February one or more flights of Biman were delayed at the last minute for 15/20 minutes so that they could be boarded by odd passengers.

Some of these people are believed to have come from, and returned to, the US and Saudi Arabia.

Hasina's entourage was banned from entering Shenakunja. Her military advisor and Motia Chowdhury were finally allowed in.

Motia was supposed to have set on stage/head table with Hasina but was forced to sit in the front row.

When the order came for those within 3 miles of BDR camp to be evacuated it was Chatra League that went to many houses and told them to evacuate.

There were no media people or Army at Gate 5 of the BDR camp. Most of the escapees exited through this gate - with arms.

At the National Parade Ground janaza all politicans were barred from entry - except President Zillur Rahman.

At other janazas politicans were barred and some were forcibly expelled.

The investigation was to be for 7 days - it has been extended by another 7 days.

Hasina: "Don't worry. As long as my sister and I are here we will look after you and your children.."

Crime levels are up in Dhaka city and people are generally very worried about security.

There is a feeling that the anger in the Army is subsiding with each passing day but no one really knows what is going on behind the scenes.

It is believed that some of the murderers crossed into Bangladesh across the border with India.

I also believe that almost everyone believes it was a conspiracy, organised locally and internationally, using the disgruntled BDR troops as a decoy.

And that the Army will never forgive itself for not going in to the camp somehow.

Moeen U ahmed is also in trouble. There are stories of him being insulted by junior officers..

This is not a factual anlysis - its just me telling you part of whats going in Dhaka.

Goodnight
