I am pretty sure oneness is not centered at the very site where pagans thought all powers meet to sleep. When Allah (swt) is omnipresent why use the very site for praying, that lowly kafir pagans used for their praying. As long kafir / pagans way of praying facing kaba is must for Muslim, muslim will never be free of kafir mentality. Symbolism has no place in Islam; the moment you settle on a symbol, you lost your way.
