[ALOCHONA] Bangladesh 2008: Optimism VS Pessimism

Dear Alochoks,

Last year was a surprise year for Bangladesh. Many impossible became possible in the year 2007. It will be a memorable year in our history. As a nation we have many historical event that we can be proud of. We have 1952, we have 1971 and both of them make their permanent place in the history.

1990 could have the similar status for the rise of democratic sun. But the sun was covered by huge cloud of confusions and irritating conflicts of two major political shareholder of our country. Thus 1991-2006 became a worst example of democratic era. Our parliament became multi-species animal farm and our other democratic institutions became monkey Zoo. We do not want that kind of democracy anymore in Bangladesh. Instead of that we better live in a disciplined autocratic rule.

1/11 changed many thing in Bangladesh and its people. Changed our thoughts and beleifs. We must learn a good lesson from pre-1/11 period. Needless to say, its not easy task to clean 36 years rust from our mind, from our life style. We understand the difficulties, but that should not be an excuse of the failure. We have seen some efforts to clean it but the success rate is not good enough to be confident. Some people doubt about the political ambition in the CTG. But we want to beleive that history will not repeat again like 1982. We look for a new history.

We dont know who will rule our country for next 10 years. Regardless the democracy or autocracy, Bangladesh needs a positive change for its economy, education, law and order, social security etc. We want no more promise, we just want action.

Can we make it positively? People still in doubt and a large number of people dont have enough confidence to the current CTG. Main reason is failure of controlling rapid increase of commodity price and imbalance talking of some advisors. Rice price is a very recent example for that.

If current CTG failed to make what they were commited for, the whole Bangladesh will fail. Many beleives that this govt reached to the point of no return. Surrender is impossible and it can be suicidal now.

What is waiting for Bangladesh in 2008?
