[mukto-mona] DU Teachers to be released ?

"Whatever the outcome of the trial, DU teachers will be released", bostfully utteed Dr. Hosain Jillur Rahman

DU Students and Teachers Continued their programme of protests for the release of captive teachers and students. The students wearing black badges masked their faces with black clothes and holding protest rallies inside the campus of DU around the 'Aparajeya Bangla'. The faces of three statues of Aparajeya Bangla were also covered with black cloths. All these symbolic gestures of protest were to press demand for the release of their fellow students and beloved teachers. The students also made silent processons inside the Kala Bhaban of the Campus. The teachers expressed their solideraity with the students. One of the participating teachers Professor AMM Akash of economics department said that when they protested on the issue, the students came out to support the cause, so it was the morale duty of the teachers too to support the students demanding of release of their teachers and friends inside the prison.

A girl student masking her face with a piece of black cloth said that "I donot understand right or wrong, but I do understand that our respected teachers had suffered enough, and still suffereing. They should be released right now and that too unconditionally. Protest against emergency for the restoration of civil right could not be a crime." Another student said, "my friends in the jail must be released, so that we can go together in the class. They have suffered a lot. If they were to be treated as criminals for such trivial things then thousands of DU students have to be treated criminals by the government and its discipline force." Yet another student said, "Army and the government elements are not the only patriots, we too love our country no less than any one. It is our right even under imergency to protest for restoration of civil liberty and civil right. You cannot just take any one to jail for demanding the withdrwal of emergency.

DU Teachers will be released Soon ?
The newly appointed adviser of the care taker government Dr. Husain Jillur Rahman, Adviser in charge of Education, categorically said today whatever the outcome of the trial against DU teachers they would be released soon. The Government is very keen to deal the matter with sympathy and humanity. Their release is under the active consideration. This assurance he gave to the journalists when the Dr. Saheb went to see the ailing drama personality Selim Al Din at the Bangabandhu Medical Univesity hospital. Some times I think whenever a man with intelligence joins government as minister (in this case adviser) does he took out his intelligence elements from the cortex and put in a safe custody as he thinks in running the ministry he don't require this basic element, 'we call intelligence'. Otherwise how could he utter such a nuisance, 'whatever the outcome, they would be released & reinstated' adding 'as soon as the proceedings of trial is completed, which might take a few days or so.'

Then why this sham trial wasting government money, time of the learned and poor judges. Is it the example of sepseperation of judiciary from executive. What authority this gentleman has to pronounce such things violating the rule of law, norm and descency. Is he out of his mind ?

In one of my previous writings I repeated that in order to satisfy the ego of our only patriotatic element, the teachers must have to bear the stigma of criminality for the 'crime' they committed against army when the judges will found them guilty & and punish. And then the real mockery would start; following the RU model, our teacher cum adviser of BNP under Begum Khaleda, President with all his magnaminity will pardon the teachers & set free.

Mr. SMA Fayez, VC of DU, again a trustworthy person of Begum Saheba belonging to 'intellectual cadres of BNP' told the journalists and students that he had a 'talk' with CA today (January 13, 2008) and a design is under making for the release of 4 DU teachers urging upon the university community to have patiense and not to do anything that might fizzle out the design.

On the hand university community including teachers and students gave an ultimatum that if within a week students and teachers are not released they will pursue sterner course of actions.

Protest in RU campus

The RU students also demanded the release of punished students of RU and under trial DU students and teachers when they brought out bare footed procession inside the campus. They also wear black badges.
