[mukto-mona] On the existence of soul [or atma]

Sorry for my small intrusion onto a BIG topic.

Speaking of Cell Biology, the main difference between a bacterium or a protozoan such as amoeba and a human being [Homo sapiens] is while the former is single cellular; the latter is multi-cellular-- and being at the top of evolutionary tree, more organized.

Do we think of a 'soul' when a single cellular bacterium diminishes or killed? If not, what's so special [Biologically] in a multi-cellular human that compels us to the existence of 'soul'? Similarly, I do NOT expect anyone would think of finding a 'soul' in a plant, or in a lower animal. If so, why should there be a 'soul' in humans? Except for a very few components [such as cell wall, plastid, chloroplast], after all, you do NOT see big difference b/w a plant cell and an animal cell.

Any convincing counter-response? Please come ahead if it is credible from a scientific point of view.

Sincerely,
Jahed Ahmed
