Greeting from Bangladesh Institute of Human rights (BIHR).
Enclosed please find herewith the attached file regarding the case "Abdul Qyum Khan who was died in Dhaka Central Jail due to lack of proper Treatment. "
BIHR has received a fact-finding report conducted by fact-finding team of BIHR from 09 February to 11 February 2008 regarding to death of Abdul Qayum Khan, who is the acting ward commissioner of Dhaka City Corporation. We have also received information that the victim Qayum Khan was detained from 12 January 2007 to till his death with out any specific allegation. Furthermore, we informed that in spite of the victim was a patient of heart disease, the jail authority did not provide him proper treatment. Even his family member was appealed to the jail authority orally, they jail authority did not take proper step to his regular cheek up. We would like to request you to take appropriate action on that report. In my opinion, you may take a statement on this regard. It will be highly appreciated if you kindly inform us about the progress in this regard.
