Many many thanks for correcting my such a silly and careless mistake. I don't know how it happened. It is not that I wrote my piece based on long past memory. The other day I was reading a nice article on FDR in the Upfront of the NYT dated 14th January, 2008. It is still sitting on my desk.
Yes, FDR was a great crisis time (the Great Depression and WWII) president and took revolutionary economic and political decisions.
Regarding Vietnam War, the sead was sown by Truman. "In 1950, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and China recognized each other diplomatically. The Soviet Union quickly followed suit. U.S. President Harry S. Truman countered by recognizing the French puppet government of Vietnam. Washington feared that Hanoi was a pawn of Communist China and, by extension, Moscow."
