thanks for posting the text of Obama speech.
I am apalled by the comments of a couple of 'smart alec' mukto-mona members whose opinions on Obama managed to reveal much about themselves. A person cannot be expected to appreciate honesty and candor in someone else when that person does not value these qualities in his or her own life.
I endorse the praise of the speech in NYTimes editorial. Please read Frank Rich, one of the more intelligent columnists of NYTimes, who, among the rare few in the media five years ago, staunchly refused to buy Bush's lies for going to war against Iraq.

My European friends are sending me their exuberant cheers for Obama. Some of them are old-time Jazz music fans and hence have friends who are Black American musicians whom they adore as people and with whom they socialize. For them Obama's speech was very moving.
