May I humbly say that the issue was never whether Barack Obama is a
superior candidate over Hillary Clinton? In a post to my horror I
found that the grassroots organization MoveOn.Org was portrayed as
George Soros outfit. And I had to take issue out of this
mischaracterization. MoveOn.Org's founder Eli Pariser was my eldest
son's college mate at Simon Rock College of Bird. My son mentioned
to me about this organization that was gaining popularity among anti-
Bush people.
Wikipedia had the following entry on Mr. Pariser – "Pariser's rise to
prominence as a political activist began when he and college student
David H. Pickering launched an online petition calling for a
nonmilitary response to the attacks of September 11th. In less than a
month, half a million people had signed the petition and in November
of that year, Moveon.org founders Wes Boyd and Joan Blades asked
Pariser to join their organization." This account matches with what
I knew and nowhere is mentioned that this popular organization was
the personal property of financier Soros. Still then there was no
end to the vituperative reply from my detractor.
This is however a fact that George Soros have contributed a
significant amount of money later but he never did give the seed
money, which came from the members. It is a verifiable fact that
over 3 million folks have become the member of this grassroots
organization. This was the bone of contention; however, my message
never did get through in the cacophony of the debate. Later, I
simply was astounded to read that I was alleged to be "lexically
challenged." The same "debater" had the audacity to make personal
attack against Farida Majid too. Perhaps this has become a norm in
Mukto-mona. Lest we forget, penning something using strongly-worded
language is not the same as making personal attack.
