[ALOCHONA] Jamaat's New Ameer in 1971 - Anybody Surprised?

The Daily Amader Somoy published this article about Jamaat's new ameer's role during 1971 war. Is that surprising to anybody? Is it possible for Jamaat to elect anybody in that position with different background when the top leadership of entire Jamaate Islami participated in war crimes?
