I want to keep our conversation in the popular science level only. I have to tell you a story about the existence of a centrifugal force.
Quite a few year ago, I visited the Six Flag Great Adventure Park with my family. We were going from one ride to the other. One of them was like a huge cylindrical case, in which each passenger stands in side a compartment facing towards the center with back against the wall of the cylindrical case. We all got in. When operator was checking us out, I found, there is no restraining belt or harness to secure us in the compartment. I asked the operator about the restraining belts or harnesses. The operator said, we won't need them. I got worried about my daughters. They were only 6, and 14 years old. I asked him again, "Are you sure, these kids won't need anything?" He again replied "No."
Anyway, the cylindrical case soon started to rotate, and was slowly gaining speed. As speed increased, it felt like my back was stuck to wall with crazy glue. I couldn't move at all during that ride. When I got off, I realized, we were under the influence of the centrifugal force, which was pushing us out onto the wall. This is a pseudo force because it cannot exist without the existence of a centripetal force. This is also similar to the "Normal force" that balances the weight of an object resting on a table.
This communication is to console the skeptics about the existence of a "reactive force.".
