It is really interesting to know that Maulana Anwar Shah Kashmiri Deobandi ulama, made this speech in 1927 and advocated for one India based on Hindu-Muslim unity. Three years later (1930 Iqbal came up with a sort of two-nation theory final version of which was spelled out by Jinnah in 1940. Iqbal was fiercely critical of such Deobandi ulamas Mawdudi obviously started providing theories that fueled two-nation theory and Pakistan movement. Interestingly Savarkar, founder of Hindu Mahasabha, also supported two-nation theory although he visioned the proposed Muslim land to be somewhere in the Middle East.
Unfortunately such a strong moral support to the cause of one India by the Deobandi ulamas proved to be of no help because of the stubbornness, shortsightedness, hunger for power, and meanness of the political leaders of both the major religious groups.
