Re: [mukto-mona] Science and Religion: Reality vs. Emotion!

WRT: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mukto-mona/message/48208

Mr. Gani,
What is a religion?
In my view, religion has less to do with God, more to do with politics, rituals, life-styles, segregation, division, and commemoration of thousands of years old events. Religion has a very little purpose other than creating conflict and destabilization  around the world. What I find in a religion is that,  it was mostly designed to overemphasize the status of the promulgator, ensuring his superiority, sometimes superseding the God. The promulgators used God as a bait to draw the attention of the general mass. In many instances, promulgators have substituted God for himself. Thus, turning God into a secondary figure in the religion.
If it was only about God, killing and hatred would not have existed between different faiths. Animosity arises when the primary intent of a religion is to establish hegemony over the other. This is tribalism, and it has been a dominant character of a religion. We are engaged in commiting the most heinous act onto others in the name of God to establish hegemony. Unfortunately, this was exactly the selfish desire of the promulgator.

One can seek the existence of God scientifically even without following a religion. We know, science cannot explain many things, and many scientists, even Einstein, left those onto the God. To me, contemporary religions are too narrow, too shallow, too naive to be able to lead us to the kingdom of God. May God be our guide to find our destination.
