[mukto-mona] rightist fundamentalism

Mr. Subimal Chakrabarti rightly commented when he said, "Jogi's article on his recent visit to Pakistan and his emotionally charged appreciation of the love for democracy that he had seen among the speakers in the conference on democracy in South Asia held in Islamabad also disturbed  some people in the forum. It is difficult to understand why some one finds wrong in some one else's praising a positive development in a neighbor". I want to add something very important here for all of us. That is about hatred. Should we hate Pakistani people for the evil-doing of their regimes ? It is a fact that Pakistani regimes have been patronizing the Taleban terrorism and ISI has been a long term patron for spreading Islamic Fundamentalism and zingoism in Bangladesh and India, but it is also true that there are lot of secular journalists, intellectuals as well as moderate people who have been  just helpless victim of the circumstances. I do not know who actually were upset about Yogi's praising of democratic progress in Pakistan, but I am afraid, it reveals  a lot of dark side of the commenters. One already I said, the above reference of Subimal Babu evidences the inherent hatred to Pakistani people. How can we claim ourselves, if not progressive, secular liberals if we nourish hatred and prejudice against the entire people of country only because of their identity, religion or nationality ? Then what's the difference between those who advocate a state based on religious majority(fascism) and us ?  Could we overcome these darksides(such as feudal originated mindset) among ourselves ? This attitude, as I implied by the reference from Subimal Babu is indicating a kind of rightist fundamentalism- another kind of radical dark side.

2. Mr. Subimal mentioned that Jogindar Sikand's recent article on the Deoband ulema (who in a historic speech in 1927 supported an undivided India and backed his view with Islam as he understood it) outraged many of the forum.  I did not read that article, so I can not comment on that. But, the well-famous and popular columnist Gaffar Chowdhury, who is known as a secular mid-left, highly praised for the contribution of Deobond Ulema for their contribution in Independance of India. I can't remember at this moment in details. But I am curious to know what wrong he wrote in that article that should outrage the members of our forum-did he try to spread and endorse communal hatred to some groups or defend that kind of staff ?
