RE: [mukto-mona] Target USA: Islamic Fundamentalists’ Road to The End of the World

WRT: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mukto-mona/message/48686

I read many articles by Yogi Sikand on many web forums. Many
people do not like him due to the reason that he is attached to the
conservative Muslim mullahs especially the Deobondi clerics. His views are not
attractive to the secular minds because Yogi is not considered free from the
Islamic dogmas. To many people Islam is a mosque based faith which is run by
the illiterate mullahs drowned in the sea of ignorance and stone walled dogmas.
It may sound too idealistic but the cherished emancipation of the mankind is not
possible through any institutionalized religion. But at this juncture of time when despite so
much of enlightenment and advancement faith is still a powerful force to ignore
altogether. Yogi despite his close connection with the Islamic clerics shows
some sort of desire for openness and peace. Since we can't bring a revolution
overnight let people like Yogi work and hope that some day he will understand
that Israel is
fighting for its survival and the Muslims did not allow it to breathe freely
since its creation in 1948. He might one day understand that the real catastrophe
or Naqba was not the creation of Israel;
it's the Arab lack of pragmatic approach to accept the realities. Some day Yogi
will learn that those vicious mullahs sitting in the 'Achalaytan' or the
immovable citadel of Deobond madrassa are not the right people to sit with or
work with.

Personally I feel disgusted when Yogi places so much
importance on this diehard religious institution which is singularly
responsible for alienating the Indian Muslims from the mainstream society. But
if Yogi can influence these keepers of darkness to see some light let him do
that. As our learned contributor Sabinal Chakravarty said that all kinds of
religious fundamentalism are equally detestable we need to be stern with any
kind of extremism. This is important to understand that freedom is not subject
any religious dogmas. This message will one day reach Yogi Sikand.
