I would like to thank you all for giving us the opportunity to serve you.
Here are the proposed BABA Programs for 2008-2009:
We are planning for 3 types of programs as follows:
A. Programs organized by BABA
B. Programs co-sponsored and participated by BABA
C. A Special Program "Bay Area's Talent Search"
A. Programs organized by BABA
1. August 23, 2008, Saturday:
BABA Mela (Park in
2. Dec 13, 2008, Saturday:
Bijoy Dibosh (Victory Day celebration), Eid Reunion, Cultural program, Election of three BOT members. (Big Hall, indoor)
3. February 21, 2008 (Evening to midnight of Feb 20, Friday):
Mobile Shahid Minar made by wood or plastic, Cultural Program (A big house, or a big indoor Hall, because of past-midnight time of commemoration and for cold weather of that time)
4. April 4, 2009: Saturday:
Independence Day celebration (Shadhinota Dibosh), Boishakhi Mela with Pitha party competition by many aunties, and major Cultural program (in a big Hall, indoor)
5. June 27, 2009, Saturday:
Sports, Picnic, and Booths (Park in
6. Sept 26, 2009, Saturday:
BABA Mela and Eid Reunion (Outdoor Park, Hellyer Park)
7. December 19, 2009, Saturday:
Bijoy Dibosh (Victory Day celebration), Eid Reunion, Cultural Program, Election of three BABA-EC members and three BOT members. (Big Hall, indoor).
B. Programs co-sponsored and participated by BABA
In addition to the 7 local Programs of BABA as listed above, BABA will also co-sponsor and participate in the following several General Programs organized by various other Umbrella organizations of Bangladeshi Heritage Nationwide in USA:
1. July 3-5, 2008 (3 Days):
BABA will participate in FOBANA-2008 in
2. March 28-29, 2009, Saturday and Sunday:
BABA will participate in the Bangladesh Independence day celebration (Shadhinota Dibosh celebration) with Parade in
3. July 4, 2009 weekend (3 Days)
BABA will participate in Bongo Shommelon (NABC-2009) in
4. July 3-5, 2009 (3 Days):
BABA will participate in FOBANA-2009 in out of state location (
C. A Special Program "Bay Area's Talent Search"
In addition to the above 7+4= 11 programs, BABA will also think about another Special Cultural program, which can be called "Bangladeshi Idol of the Bay Area" or "Bay Area's Close UP 1 - Talent Search Competition".
I just want to mention here that these BABA Programs are tentative and subject to availability of venue and other logistics. I hope you will understand our sincerity.
If any of the community members have any suggestions for additional programs or ideas like Bangla School, Music and Dance Classes, Bangladesh Community Center, or any other community development projects that you think BABA should do, then please let us know, so that we can get an idea of how many people are interested.
I also want to emphasize here that we are going to need the help and support of all the community members in order to make these programs successful. So, we are requesting all the community members to please become the BABA members and to please attend and participate in all the BABA programs Volunteers are always welcome. Just send me your contact info if you wish to be a BABA volunteer for any of the events.
