[mukto-mona] Re: Suggestion on the exit strategy for the CTG & Military

WRT: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mukto-mona/message/48869

A long and well thought out proposal. However, the problem areas are:

1. The proposal undermines the growth of political power of the
country which may have an adverse effect in the long run. Exmaples are
South American coutries where long military rules had given psudo-
ecomonic growth that did not sutain in the long run. For a state to
function, all its instrumnt of power needs to be strengthened NOT
ignored. Military is NOT for running the country but to protect
national interest. Parvez Musharraf might have givn Pakistan a stable
and growing ecomony (atleast the indicators are so), but surely
Pakistan's 'political power' as a nation is curtailed manifold.

2.Disregrads the 'legitimacy' part in international environment. Such
govt if established will lack legitimacy and will have to be
subsurvient to regional and international power.

I could add many more, but the bottomline is the proposal, no matter
how adorable to some, lack the fundamentals of strengthing all the
instrument of national power and might take us back instead of forward.

Cheers
Zahid Khan
