[created Secularism.... Then he went on giving definition of secularism from different sources (in English). Then he ... Tafseer Mahfil 2006, held in Chittagong. Allama Delwar Hossain Sayeedi is one of the most prominent religious telepreachers in Bangladesh. A very prominent Bangladeshi Islamic personality and politician, a former Member of Parliament and one of the most prominent leaders of the Islamic Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh. Here is a brief summary of the lecture: "Satan has mandated conventions exactly the opposite of what Allah has mandated. For example, Allah has sent the Quran and Sunnah as a complete code of life which includes code of conduct from personal life to governing the state. But as a counter, Satan has created Secularism.... Then he went on giving definition of secularism from different sources (in English). Then he summarized the definitions of secularism as (1), separation of religion from state and politics, (2), religion will be confined only to personal matters, (3), religion mandated regulations cannot be considered in state affairs, (4), in the Islamic world secularism should be implemented in such a way that it will only be useful in personal matters, (5), secularism requires separating society, economy and state completely from Islam. Afterwards he said secularism is poisonous and is a curse for mankind as it confines Islam only to personal life separating it completely from state affairs. Secularism is a man-made ideology that negates the ideology of Allah and therefore is a Kufr." Islam is the only code of life revealed by Allah, The Lord of the Universe. This code of life encompasses the whole gamut of human life. It does not only prescribe beliefs but also the norms of behaviour. Its guidance covers all spheres of human activities, both spiritual and material. Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh upholds Islam in its entirety, and aims at bringing about a revolution. It is opposed to all forms of violence. It aims at channelling the thoughts of the people to the right direction first. Then people of similar thinking have to be organised and trained up as able leaders and efficient workers of the Islamic movement. (more) (less)

Razaker Delwar Hossain Sayeedi's lecture is based on distortion opportunistic
use of the word secularism.....

There is a problem with the word "secularism." It means so many different things.
The distinction needs to be made between philosophical secularism, and
secularism in a political sense:

The philosophical secularism is an idea of the world which does not depend on the
supernatural power or powers, a system of beliefs about ultimate things.

The Political secularism recognizes politics as an autonomous sphere:
Seperation of state and religion.

A secular political order is one in which religious practice or religious exercise,
can flourish without intervention by the state.

It certainly does not make an individual or groups second class citizen of a
country only because of one's religion.  Politically, secularism is the assertion
that governmental practices  or institutions should exist separately from religion
or religious belief.

Political secularism asserts the right to be free from religious rule [Mullah-tantra],
and freedom from the government imposition of religion upon the people, within a
state that is neutral on matters of belief, and gives no extra state privileges to a
particular religion or a specific doctrine or dogma  within a religion.

Politically Secularism is Separation of church and state:
Separation of church and state is a political and legal doctrine that government
and religious institutions are to be kept separate and independent from each other
The term most often refers to the combination of two principles:secularity of
government and freedom of religious exercise.

First Amendment to the United States Constitution created a "wall of separation"
between church and state. The phrase was then quoted by the United States
Supreme Court first in 1878, and then in a series of cases starting in 1947. This
led to increased popular and political discussion of the concept.

The concept has since been adopted in a number of countries, to varying degrees
depending on the applicable legal structures and prevalent views toward the proper
role of religion in society. A similar principle of laïcité has been applied in France
and Turkey, while some socially secularized countries such as Norway have
maintained constitutional recognition of an official state religion. The concept
parallels various other international social and political ideas, including secularism,
disestablishment, religious liberty, and religious pluralism.

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or
of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition
the Government for a redress of grievances.
