Time and again Taslima Nasrin is being turned into a heroine by this
Site, among others. To quote a recent post on this Site - "the hue
and cry over the writings of Taslima Nasrin, a third-rate writer by
any reckoning, has elevated her to the level of an international
celebrity. At least those who never read her books seem to think she
is a great writer!" (Shahjahan Madampat). Please do not turn her
into a celebrity, she does not deserve it. With her writings she has
at the best spoiled the harmony in a big section of the population
of South Asia. Those who support her do so with a purpose. And that
is to fan the fire she has ignited. To those who support her, my
only request is to read her books in the original language - if
possible - and then judge her without bias. Writers like her intend
to rise up the glory ladder by foul means. Let us not assist them.
