I again like to appreciate Maulana Wahiduddin Khan for his article.
It no doubt reflects his honest intention and practical sense. We
who consider ourselves as freethinker know it very well that it
takes lots of intellectual pursuit to be a free thinker. We cannot
expect that all people of this world will turn into freethinker
overnight. Given the present situation we can fairly assume that
different religions will continue to dominate the lives of mass
people for over many centuries from now on, at least in the under
developed countries. In such a situation what could be our strategy
to ensure peace in this world? We must be cautious about vested
interest groups so that they cannot lead people to hatred and
violence in the name of religion to gratify their narrow personal
interests. It needs devising peaceful interpretations of religious
belief system and circulating those among the people. I know many
freethinkers will consider it as a hypocritical act but it is not at
all blameworthy as far as intention behind such an act is
concerned.
