Good news. Justice in this case finally prevailed even after eight years. The government has decided to drop sedition charge against Shahriar Kabir which was lodged falsely by vindictive BNP-Jamaat administration. This news will be really heartbreaking to our so-called pseudo-Islamic groups who are not at all interested in truth and justice - two of the main pillars of Islam and who are mainly interested in false propaganda and conspiracy theories. Falsely charging anybody, giving false testimonies and spreading rumors are major sins not many politico-Muslims are interested in saving themselves from. And hypocrites are those who want others to live up to standards they themselves fail to uphold. As Muslims, we have to firmly establish justice in Muslim countries irrespective of gender, race, religion, class etc. There is no excuse. Among the Muslim scholars, there is a general consensus – A non-Muslim ruler who is more just than a Muslim one is preferable to Allah (I heard it from an Imam during a Jumah khutba). Hardcore BNP-Jamaati henchman Munshi Atik (close associate of BNP minister Babar) was also responsible for destroying the evidence of 21 Aug, 2004 grenade blast (sponsored by BNP minister Abdus Salam Pintu) at AL gathering and arresting completely innocent people and brutally torturing them in remand. This guy was involved in diverting and destroying many other terrorism related cases. Not even BNP activists were safe under Khaleda-Nijami administration.
