In the Dhaka University, the white panel, a pro-fundamentalist
teachers group yesterday recommended:
1. Curb the Departments' rights
2. Lower the academic standards
concerning the admission policy. They are concerned that it
discriminates against the academically unqualified students of
fundamentalist persuasion. The standards set are too high for these
students... (not for general students though).
The admission policies all over the world in academic institutions
discriminate on the basis of academic qualifications -- this seems to
be irrelevant to these teachers when it comes to fundamentalist
candidates.
They have threatened to boycott the admission process unless these
students are blindly allowed. May be, that is a good thing as these
teachers seem biased. It is also possible that if these unqualified
students are given the chance to sit in the exam -- this bias will
play in their favour.
It is really sad these people are teachers of Dhaka University! May be
they should be re-evaluated.
