This change in the jamaat's mentality can be seen in two ways.
Either the party's apparently moderate stance is a ploy to woo
secular voters into voting for it in the upcoming elections thus
increasing its vote share and consequently its position in
bangladeshi politics which in turn will empower them to further an
agenda of talibanizing the country. or it can be seen as a sign that
the jamaat is caving in to popular pressure and is forced to adopt a
more moderate stance. if the latter is true then we have every reason
to rejoice. if the former is true then we have every reason be ever
suspicious and heighten our stance against the jamaatis.
