TO BE HELD AT YALE UNIVERSITY ON OCTOBER 17, 2009
US-based charity fights for CHILD RIGHTS
Cheshire, CT (August 6, 2009): Distressed Children & Infants International, a US registered, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is hosting a "Conference on Child Rights" followed by a benefit concert. The conference and concert will take place on October 17, 2009, from 9:00 AM - 9:30 PM, at TAC Building and Harkness Auditorium, Yale University School of Medicine, 300 Cedar Street, New Haven, CT 06510.
The goal of DCI's 2nd Annual Conference on Child Rights is three-fold: to raise awareness of children's rights in local, national, and international communities, to discuss key issues of poverty in the 21th century, and to provide a forum for discussing creative, community-driven methods for alleviating child labor, hunger, and poverty around the world. Keynote speakers include some of the leading national and international experts in the fields of children's rights and child poverty.
The conference will feature enlightening and educational talks on children's rights, poverty alleviation, and general global health issues, ending with an evening of entertainment from local and international performers. This event is open to all; however, pre-registration is required, as the venue's seating capacity is limited. The tickets for the event are $40 for adults and $20 for students. Lunch, dinner and the concert are included in the ticket price. Registration can be completed online at http://www.distressedchildren.org.
All proceeds from the event will be used for Childhood Blindness Prevention program and Cyclone Sidr victims rehabilitation program through DCI, a US non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation (Tax ID #810671495). Additional contributions can be sent to DCI International, 5 Shipton Court, Cheshire, CT 06410, USA, or may be submitted online by visiting www.distressedchildren.org.
