The historicity of Jesus and Muhammad had been questioned.
Chaitanyadev existed during the regime of Hussain Shah. After he left
for Goya to perform funeral rites for his father, his wife died due to
snake bite. The snake might have been introduced into her room by her
sister- in-law. After he returned, he was persuaded to marry again.
But slowly and surely, he turned mad. His followers term the madness
as 'divyommad'. When I visited the Juggernaut temple about forty
years ago, I was told of Chaitanya being killed in the temple. He
brought the Kirtan from Karnataka. About his knowledge of the
scriptures myths might have been concocted.
