Re: [mukto-mona] [Politiconomy] Is Islam a drag on economic growth?

If we value time as a measure of economic growth, then religion may or may not be a drag on economic growth. Even though we waste nonproductive time for religious purposes, but religious festivities always spar tremendous economic activity.
Now the question - if Islam is a drag on Economy – is a complex one, because, unlike other religions (such as, Christianity, Hinduism, etc.), Islam has its own economic theory. As I understand, Islamic economic principles include distribution of wealth and zero-interest policies on investment. As far as I know, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey, etc. are not following such economic principles. If these anti-growth policies are followed, Islam will be a drag on economic growth.
