Railways Minister Suranjit Sengupta claimed on Thursday that the incident of recovering money from the car of his assistant personal secretary (APS) was part of a "well orchestrated conspiracy" to humiliate him politically.
"It is a well orchestrated design to slander me politically and thwart the current progress in the railway sector that had been in dilapidated condition over the decades," he said at a press briefing at Rail Bhaban in the city.

Border Guard Bangladesh personnel seized Tk 70 lakh from the car which pulled over at the main entrance of BGB headquarters near Jigatola in the capital around 11:30pm On Monday.

APS Omar Faruque Talukder, Railway (East) General Manager Yusuf Ali Mridha and chief railway commandant Enamul were on the vehicle which was driven by Ali Azam, the driver of Omar Faruq.

APS Faruque was suspended and Mridha sent on leave on Wednesday. Two inquiry committees were constituted to investigate the incident the same day.
