| Humanity is divided by race, color, idealism, religion, social status, caste, creed, etc. Some of those divisions are perpetual; we just have to accept them. But, others may had some usefulness once, but now outdated, either due to lack of necessary reform or utility. Religion, caste, etc. are such divisive-agents in our society, and they are on the retreat. I agree that religion may still have some positive influences on our societies, but – the ills they cause outweigh everything else. We know - religion is absolute, and cannot be reformed, and that is why it is on a head-on collision course with the progress and prosperity in the modern society. In fact, religion may have put a death-nail on itself by introducing its absoluteness. The absoluteness is an absurd notion on this world; nothing is absolute in the real world. It can only happen in the fantasy-world, which we call eternal world. If we cannot change religious traditions with the progress and prosperity of the society, they will be obstacles along the way of our progress. We do not need to be geniuses to discover it; we can see it and feel it everyday. Thanks God, we are living in an evolutionary world; here, everything changes; even the truth is a relative entity, and nothing is supposed to stay still. I do not want to remain stuck in the thousands of years old world, following primitive practices, but many, unfortunately, do. It boggles my mind. Jiten Roy |
