Dr. Nuran Nabi, a Bangladeshi American scientist and community leader has been appointed as Councilman of Plainsboro Township of New Jersey, USA. He is arguably the 2nd Bangladeshi American to become a Councilman of a USA Township. Tonight Township Clark Ms. Pat Hullfish conducted the swear in ceremony in the presence of Mayor Peter Cantu and other officials as well as Dr. Zeenat Nabi, wife of Dr. Nabi.

Plainsboro Township, near Princeton in Central Jersey, has only 10% minority population including 5%Asian origin and rest 90% white population. Dr. Nabi's appointment is a significant event in this diversified demographic population. He has been assigned to the Liaison committee for township population. Integration of diversified population to the mainstream population is one of my goals, said Councilman Dr. Nabi. I will use my leadership to bring the community together, he added.

It is noted that Dr. Nabi is a renowned scientist, writer and a dedicated community leader. Recently he has retired from Colgate Palmolive Company as an Associate Director of Technology. Currently he is a member of the Board of Directors of Applied Research & Photonics, Inc and President of Invent Enterprise, LLC. Dr. Nabi was born in Khamarpara in Tangail district. He was a student and teacher of Dhaka University and a decorated freedom fighter of Bangladesh liberation war. He authored two books "Born In Bengal" and "Bullets of '71, A Freedom Fighter's Story" on Bangladesh liberation war. He along with his wife Dr. Zeenat Nabi, two sons Mushfik Nabi and Adnan Nabi live in New Jersey.
