RE: [ALOCHONA] About the trial of Warcriminals (a Jaijaidin article)

The card-carrying members of Jamaat have been gleefully touting this Op-Ed in Jai Jai Din (21-11-2007) all over the place. This badly written piece by some Shamsuzzaman Siddiqui Shahin is an excellent example of "doublespeak" or an excersize in telling lies couched in true-sounding language. Some of the lies are not even well-cloaked.
In the first part he speaks disparagingly about a popular patriotic song and the emotion expressed by family members of lost lives in mukti-juddho. Such show of emotion or bathos, he proclaims, is divisive for national unity, and is exhibited only for the purpose of hitting the political opponents (What or whose 'politics' and 'opponent' of what?).
He then doublespeaks of war criminals. He can't find them in Wikipedia, hence, the implication is that they do not exist. The Geneva Convention does not apply to 1971 Genocide in Bangladesh. He brings up the Simla Agreement. Why mention Simla if you are so cocksure that Bangali razakar mass-murderers were also pardoned by that Agreement? A Bangladeshi Government repeatedly failed to set up a War Tribunal for trying the Rajakar murderers, looters and rapists.  War criminals cannot be tried at a normal court of law. Therefore we do not have war criminals formally CONVICTED at a War Tribunal. But have they been charged as war criminals? You bet they have been. Thick legal dossiers are prepared with firm evidences. Make no mistake about that.
He mocks and jeers at muktijuddho again and again. "Oh! How good would it have been to get a grab or two of grub in exchange of so much blood for the independence of our country!"

Should we tolerate such outrageous lies? There is a cacophony of such noises lately. We better fine-tune our ears otherwise such doublespeak will doublecross our nation once again.

                 Let us remain vigilant.

Subject: [ALOCHONA] About the trial of Warcriminals (a Jaijaidin article)

Is "Rajakar" synonym of "War Criminal" so that one has to search Rajakar to get list of War Criminals???? What if some Russians want to find Russian war criminals or Chinese want to find Chinese war criminals? Can they use the same word in the search engine to find their own war crinimals???? Reason is not reason at all if it does not favor me, right??? We should learn how to appreciate a good piece of write-up.... But I know we are bemused by parochialism that defeats other's reasoning. It's curious that the writer didn't find any reference to "war criminals" in Wikipedia!! First of all, Wikipedia is a self-generated, user-modifed encyclopedia that has known to carry faulty information. Secondly, I think the writer needs to expand his horizon in terms of searching in Wikipedia. I just ran several searches with "Rajakar", and Jamaat, Shibir, and a small list of known Rajakars came up within few seconds, including the detailed history of both parties and their nasty past.

Just my two cents.
