Dear Alochoks,
I thank Ms. Farida Majid for her endeavor to detect the lies that
hide the truth. However, I am unable to understand her reasoning
methodology and it seems to me that she also tried to hide the truth
in the name of detecting it.
Apparently, she was trying to detect lies in a posting of Shah Abdul
Hannan, a former top bureaucrat of the government and a former
Chairman of the biggest private sector bank in Bangladesh,
containing remarks regarding the recent statements of Amnesty
International Secretary General on trying the war criminals and
demand of a quarter for banning Islamic politics. He also made
remarks on the 1972 constitution.
Now, let us see her way of detecting the lies and disproving the
remarks of Shah Abdul Hannan.
She wrote, "We know that he is the Islami Bank brain behind the
arrangement of funds from mysterious Middle Eastern sources that
have gone into financing the Islamist terror groups in Bangladesh
involved in unspeakable blood-spilling and murderous activities for
the past decade."
She also wrote, "A gun runner who exploits his high position in the
Govt. and banking
skills to organize clandestine financing from abroad to arm the
Islamist groups to terrorize the innocent citizens of Bangladesh is
complaining about Amnesty International showing an interest in the
trial of the War Crimes of 1971 Genocide of Bangladesh!"
If, for the sake of argument, we accept all the allegations she made
against Shah Abdul Hannan, then how does it prove that the remarks
of Shah Abdul Hannan are untrue? What type of reasoning is this?
Please forgive me if I fail to comprehend her American English or
reasoning methodology properly (I did not have the privilege to
enter an American school in a Mafia town like her). I will be
grateful if she explains it (please be specific and to the point,
and avoid usual rhetoric).
Now come to a more interesting point. She adopted a peculiar
reasoning methodology - proving someone as liar by making white lies
herself against him. The lies she made are:
1. Islami Bank is involved in arranging funds from mysterious
Middle Eastern sources
2. That fund went to finance the terrorist groups Bangladesh
involved in unspeakable blood-spilling and murderous activities for
the past decade.
3. Shah Abdul Hannan is a gun runner (meaning a arm dealer,
thanks to FM for teaching us the word)
She did not mention any source of her information. I have been in
the country for last one decade and am unaware that Mr. Hannan was
convicted by any court of law or even any case was lodged against
him on those allegations. No newspaper even reported anything like
this. He served the government in a top position of bureaucracy
under the regime of Sheikh Hasina. The bank she mentioned is the
largest private sector bank in Bangladesh. It is a public limited
company. Its income, expenditure, funds, assets are audited by
qualified accounting firms and disclosed regularly for the public.
How can such an organisation collect mysterious funds? If, for the
sake of argument, we accept that the bank is involved in such
activities why the last five governments (including the present
western backed one) has not taken any action against it? Why has
not any case been lodged against the bank?
What type of shameless lies these are? I do not know the
appropriate word to describe it and am requesting Ms. Farida Majid
to teach me a word which can adequately depict her style of blatant
lies. How ethical is it to make this type of baseless allegation
against a respectable and senior citizen of the country? Ms. Faird
Majid mentioned about her American schooling and background. I had
an impression that a civilized society teaches its members to be
truthful and respectful to others. I am sorry to mention that her
postings are demonstrating the opposite.
We are living in a society where different people might have
different religious, political and ideological beliefs, stands and
opinions. If someone does not like an ideology she should put
forward her views and arguments using evidence and reasoning, not
with shameless lies. Lies and disrespect will not help bring
anything good for the nation.
